Asados, Amigos, and Ice Cream

Apologies again for our absence! I’ll start from where Hollis left off…

Following our magical trip in the mountains, we all arrived back to town and made a beeline for the homemade ice cream shop, Domo Blanco. I don’t have a photo on my phone (too busy enjoying!), but it’s the best ice cream in the world. Probably. After indulging, we made our way to a new hostel called Aylen-Aike.

We met three climbers-Lauri, Matti, and Ryan- who were at the end of their season in Chaltén, and a really awesome lady named Eline from The Netherlands. We all got on quite well and spent the next few days having asado, ice cream, and drinking copious amounts of Fernet and Coke. There was also some fly-tying and much joking around with Seba, the hostel owner. It was a really wonderful time, and a great re-introduction to the climbing world that I’ve been gone from for so long. After two or three days of camaraderie, the guys flew home and we were definitely sad to see them go.

The next day, we had beautiful weather and hiked up to Cerro Torre for the second time. I love this mountain.

Back to the hostel (which was more like a home at this point) and it was time to hatch a plan for climbing Cerro Solo, inspired by the guys!
