Bouldering

The first three days here in El Chatlén were without a cloud in the sky. The ranger told us at least 8 times (I’m not exaggerating) that ‘we were lucky’. Both of us were fighting a cold and waiting for our friends to arrive in town, but we couldn’t just sit around. We took this opportunity to go play on some rocks!

A local gear rental shop outfitted us with a crash pad and climbing shoes for myself. A short hike outside El Chaltén had us scouting for boulders.

I was extremely excited because I have never actually climbed outside. So it was a dream to touch a Patagonia rock for my first experience. Wait, a Fitz Roy / Cerro Torre rock! And it has been over ten months from the last time Allie touched a real rock…

The funny thing was that all the bouldering here was far above my skill level, go figure. Allie managed to find a few spots for us to get dirty. We both had a lot of fun.

Hope you two are having a wonderful time. When do you think we will be able to talk to both of you? Love you both!

    1. When we go back to Chile we should have good enough internet connection to Skype or FaceTime. Next week sometime!
